artNEXUSnm is a group of five artists living in the Albuquerque, NM area with a 10-year history of working together. Our approach to making art involves abstracted organic forms, textures and patterns to communicate a sense of place, both external and internal. Our departure from realistic imagery stimulates discussion and invites individual interpretation. artNEXUSnm members participate in invitational and juried shows, and have received national and international recognition. Our work is included in private and public collections and museums.

In this exhibition NEXUS members interpreted and responded to Open Space lands with the goal of inspiring an exchange of ideas about our environment and encouraging discussion about its conservation and stewardship. Each artist expressed her own view of the bosque, as complex ecosystem and beautiful destination. Within this common theme, individual works communicated the importance of preservation, conservation, reclamation, and repair. Our purpose was to deepen and enhance the viewer's awareness, understanding and appreciation for this unique place where we live, and the role the bosque plays in our quality of life. At the same time, we wanted our art to encourage visitors to participate in the preservation and protection of this and other fragile environments into the future.
